The Labor Day weekend saw plenty of action at the Crystal Motor Speedway with standing room only crowds both nights. Anderson Contracting and Renovating was the sponsor of the entire weekend and the fireworks display held Saturday night. Action on Saturday got kicked off with the AllStar performance IMCA Modifieds that saw Cliff Denman hold off a fierce field to take the win. Cory Ruesink came home second, followed by Myron DeYoung, Gary VanderMark, Shannon Fisk, Joe Fowler, Vern Buskirk, John DeYoung, Jr., Jimmy Hale, Jr., and Greg Wiles. Heats went to VanderMark, Ruesink, Chad Wernette with B Mains going to Joey Fowler and Kody Johnson. The Engine Pro presented by ARP Sprints on Dirt ran the last of their three races on the Crystal clay as they celebrated the Mike Olrich Memorial with Ryan Ruhl taking the main event. The SOD B main went to Troy Chehowski while Kyle Sauder. Max Stambaugh, Devon Dobie, and John Gall gathered heat wins. Gregg Dalman won the series season championship. A huge turnout of cars made the Street Stock feature a good one. Matt Thacker edged out Josh Sternberg after a caution just as Sternberg had taken the lead, leading to a one lap shootout that Thacker took. Ron Harper was third, followed by Rob Brillhart, Bill Mullins, Andrew Fidler, Dustin Weber, Robert White, Mike Chlebek, and Aaron Wolf. Jay Chlebek advanced by winning the B Main and Melvin Allen, Harper, and Thacker picked up heat wins. The Engine Pro Pro Truck saw Paul Grosnickle get it done, holding off Dave Peters and Mickey Currier for the win. Ashlee Scott took home a fourth, followed by Chris Malek, Jim Emmons, Tim Wood, Chad May, Taylor Wiles, and Don Proctor III. Grosnickle also won the heat. Taylor Runions won the Races on The Web Flinn Stock after a good battle with several other drivers that saw Allen Roszell come home second, followed by Benjamin Nott, Derrick Stahl, James Snyder, Travis McGill, Rusty Sowles, Jeff Cooper, Gabe Gesselman, Doug Spencer, Chris Strouse, Shane Wiggins, Justin Stahl, Danna Rohn, and Felicia Rohn. Roszell and Derrick Stahl took heats. The Port City Racecar Pro Stock feature saw John Taylor take another feature followed by Nate Jones, Don Rohn, Chad Raby, Don Proctor, Jr., Jake Headley, Nick Stormzand, Jeff Loomis, Josh Loomis, and Rodney Heikkila. Rohn and Mike Vander Mark Jr. picked up heat gold. Action resumed Sunday night with David Hilliker winning a fast Outlaw Late Model feature over Ryan Lanphierd, Zack Olger, Kenny Wilson, Rod Laney, Marv Burroughs, Derrick Hilliker, and Carl Ries. Lanphierd took the fast car dash and Ries took the heat event. Josh Sternberg took advantage of a flat tire on the Melvin Allen car with six to go and he came home with Street Stock feature in a very strong showing. Jim Beltz took second, followed by Michael Vandecar, Dan Wilson, Harper Hotchkiss, Kevin Rohn, Todd Thoms, T.J. Gilbert, Troy Goodrich, and Ryan Alexander. Heats went to Allen and Sternberg The Steve Rudoni Kentucky Fried Chicken Late Model feature was Logan Love, taking his first Late model feature at CMS. Larry Passenier scored second, followed by Rob Taylor, Brennan Bowen, Kevin Reeve, Dean Huizenga, Kurt Mesman, Scott Church, Rachel Carpenter, and Scott Baker. Baker and Rob Taylor went home with heat wins. The Open Modified event was taken by Chad Spencer, followed by Andrew Sprague, Garrett Wiles, Chance Hoppes, David Reay, Mickey Carman, Jr., Milt Montgomery, Shannon Fisk, Josh Lolmaugh, and Jimmy Hale, Jr.. Mickey Carmen Jr, Jim Hale Jr., Garret Wiles, and Milt Montgomery all collected heat gold. Lolmaugh and Joel Sherman took B Main wins to advance to the big dance. The Engine Pro Pro Trucks saw Mickey Currier continue his winning ways as he triumphed over Jim Emmons, Madison Cook, Chris Malek, Taylor Wiles, David Scott, Joe Fowler, Don Proctor III, Chad May, and Dave Peters. Fowler grabbed the preliminary event. Gabe Gesselman grabbed the lead in the Races On The Web Flinn Stock event and was never headed. He went on to win over Taylor Runions, Doug Spencer, Keith Fike, Travis McGill, Kevin Rohn, Jr., Rusty Sowles, James Snyder, Collin Schafer, Chris Strouse, Justin Stahl, and Danna Rohn. Gesselman also posed for the heat win photos. The Port City Racecar Pro Stock feature was all Don Rohn as he won over Josh Loomis, Nate Jones, Mike VanderMark, Jr., Nick Stormzand, Norm Fowler, Jaycee Baker, John Taylor, Aaron Raby, and Gordon Snyder. Jones and John Taylor collected heat wins. The track takes next week off to prepare for the season finale, the Great Lakes Nationals sponsored by Engine Pro and presented by ARP. Races will be both Saturday the 19th and Sunday, the 20th. Saturday the pit gates open at 1PM and the grandstands open at 4PM. Hot laps will start at 4PM with heat races beginning at 6PM. The Michigan Traditional Sprints will run their entire event on Saturday.
